WRANPS 21ST ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
WRANPS will hold
its annual membership meeting on Monday evening, February 28, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
at the Mississippi Power Company Auditorium on 30th Avenue and Highway 90 in
Gulfport, Mississippi. This meeting should not be missed as not only will we be
showing the hauntingly beautiful video WILD AGAIN with music by Douglas Wood
that showcases the work performed by wildlife rehabilitators throughout the
United States, but we will also show our wonderful education animals and talk
about each one. During this meeting, we will also introduce our new working
board and advisory board members. Educational materials will also be available,
and light refreshments will be served such as coffee and punch. Make a note on
your calendar to attend.
Welcome to our new Interns
and
our new animal caretaker
- Intern - Kim McDermott from Atlanta, Georgia received both a BS in Biology and a BA in Chemistry from Emory University. She was working at a Colorado ranch before deciding to return to her Southern roots and warmer weather. Her love of animals and science are leading her towards vet school but in the meantime, she plans to learn as much about the different aspects of animal care as possible.
- Intern - Liz Perrin, who as she puts it is a resident from all over having moved more often than most. She received her BA in zoology from Ohio Wesleyan University with the dream of studying animal behavior. Her observation skills have come in handy while working with the injured wildlife who try to hide their problems from the world. Although her ultimate goal is to study primates, she has a special place in her heart for the gray squirrel.
- Helani Scurfield is the new animal caretaker. A resident of Long Beach, MS, she received a degree in theology from the Franciscan University of Stuebenville, OH. Upon graduation she returned to her southern hometown to continue her education and be close to family. A love of animals and nature first drew her to WRANPS and after volunteering we realized she was a huge asset to the WRANPS team.
